Assassin’s Creed Shadows will release on Nintendo Switch 2 in early December

Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2 console as early as Dec. This was revealed in the studio’s updated fall roadmap. The Switch 2 version will include all of the game’s updates, with the exception of the recent Claws of Awaji add-on, which will be released for the platform in 2026. The game will also support cross-progression via Ubisoft Connect — players will be able to continue their current playthrough on the new console.
In addition, the Switch 2 version will get a unique feature — touchscreen controls in the menus. Players will be able to use taps to navigate the world map, control a stash and store in the in-game store.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ fall roadmap includes three key dates. As early as October 28, update 10 will be released, which focuses on the parkour system — there will be an expanded Advanced Parkour mode and the return of the directional ledge grab mechanic. In addition, the update will add a new Animus-inspired event called Corrupted Castles.
On Nov. 25, Ubisoft will release a third story add-on and an unexpected crossover event. The new quest, titled «A Puzzlement» will be lighter and more humorous in mood — the developers compare it to missions from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. In it, Naoe will learn Yasuke’s combat kicking technique, and Yasuke will learn how to stealthily stun enemies.
Remember that the Claws of Awaji add-on, released in September, added more than 10 hours of content: new weapons, equipment, abilities, enemy factions, bosses, and a separate region to explore. All of this is coming to Switch 2 later — in 2026.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows was first released on March 20, 2025 on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game received positive reviews and is considered one of Ubisoft’s successful projects in recent years. The studio had previously released Star Wars Outlaws for Switch 2, and according to players, the port was of unexpected quality.
