Leica has introduced the M EV1, the first M-series camera with an integrated electronic viewfinder
Leica Camera AG has announced the Leica M EV1 — the first camera in the M-System lineup to feature an integrated electronic viewfinder (EVF). The new product is designed to simplify and improve focusing accuracy, especially when using fast Summilux and Noctilux lenses with shallow depth of field, as well as when shooting with ultra-wide, telephoto or macro lenses.
The new EVF is designed to make focusing easier and more accurate, especially when using fast Summilux and Noctilux lenses with shallow depth of field, as well as when shooting with ultra-wide, telephoto or macro lenses.
Leica M EV1 features a 5.76 megapixel electronic viewfinder for high definition and natural color reproduction. The viewfinder displays real-time exposure, showing exactly how the shot will look depending on the selected focal length and aperture. Shooting parameters — shutter speed, ISO and exposure value are displayed around the frame. Switching between viewfinder and touchscreen is automatic thanks to the eye proximity sensor. A diopter wheel allows you to adjust the viewfinder to suit your individual eyesight between -4 and +2.

Focus peaking and zoom functions are available for easy manual focusing. The traditional front panel lever, previously used for previewing a shot, now activates digital zoom (1.3x or 1.8x) or auxiliary focus tools.
The camera is based on the Leica M11 platform and features a full-frame BSI-CMOS sensor with Triple Resolution technology, allowing you to shoot photos at 60, 36 or 18 megapixels. Data processing is handled by a Maestro III processor and images are saved to the 64GB internal memory or SD card. DNG and JPEG formats are available. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and wired connections are available for image transfer, as well as support for the Leica FOTOS app. The camera also supports Content Credentials for authentic images.
Sales of the Leica M EV1 will begin on October 23, 2025 at Leica Store Amsterdam, Leica Store Lisse and authorized dealers. The camera will cost €7,950. A leather grip will also be available, priced at €395.
