Shire’s Opinion on AI

Emmett Scheer is known for his views on artificial intelligence, security and regulation in this field. He actively shares his thoughts on the current development of AI. For example, in one of his X posts, Scheer argues that «almost all proposed regulations for AI are bad ideas». He also criticizes chatbots, calling them «highly dissociated conciliatory neurotics», explaining that they have no stable inner «self» or goals.

Views on the Future of AI

Shir has often voiced concerns that powerful AIs may one day have the ability to self-improve beyond humanity’s control. He has also expressed ideas for creating international agreements to control the development of AI, such as banning the creation of AI that can evolve on its own.

In 2023, Scheer also served as interim CEO of OpenAI amid the firing of Sam Altman, but Altman returned to his post shortly thereafter and Scheer left.

What to expect from Stem AI

Without revealing details about the startup’s plans, Scheer and Goldstein are likely working to solve the problem of «aligning» AI with human values, an important step in the safety of artificial intelligence.
