A separate Google Gemini app has appeared on the App Store with Gemini Live feature

Users will now be able to access Gemini features, including the new Gemini Live capability, through a separate app without going into the main Google app. Until now, using Gemini required opening the Google app and switching to the «Gemini» tab at the top of the screen. The alternative method was Google’s home screen app widget, updated in September with customizable shortcuts for direct one-touch access to Gemini.

Functionality-wise, Gemini on the iPhone via the Google app now matches the capabilities of gemini.google.com. However, Google hasn’t yet updated the interface to match the Android version. Perhaps a separate app would allow Google to release updates faster. As a reminder, Google Assistant also exists as a standalone app on Apple’s platform.
