Bentley has confirmed that its first electric car will hit the market in 2026. The launch was originally scheduled for 2025, but the manufacturer decided to postpone it, it announced in March. Bentley’s new CEO Frank-Steffen Walliser, along with company executives, unveiled the updated Beyond100 strategy, now dubbed «Beyond100+», during an online presentation.

A city crossover with unique styling

Walliser emphasized that Bentley’s first electric car will be «an urban crossover» differentiated from the brand’s other models by its compactness. The car is expected to be less than 5 meters (about 4.9 meters) long, while the Bentayga is 5.1 meters long. This approach is designed to make the electric car more maneuverable, which is especially important for attracting a new audience.

Bentley’s chief executive has also hinted at high range and fast charging, but details remain confidential for now. Sound is also a particular focus, with board members noting that the new electric car will have a unique sound design unlike any other to retain Bentley’s signature ambience.

All-electric model range and investment in sustainable manufacturing

Bentley has confirmed plans to move to an all-electric lineup by 2035. However, the brand will continue to produce hybrids and even internal combustion engines as long as it is consistent with market conditions and legislation. The company also strongly supports the use of synthetic fuels, as demonstrated in a recent test of the Continental GT Speed.

Synthetic fuels are also actively encouraged.

As part of its sustainability strategy, Bentley has built a new plant at its carbon-neutral headquarters in Crewe, England. The new paint line will open by 2025, covering more than 12,400 square meters and offering customers a choice of nearly 100 colors. A four-story on-site office building will accommodate more than 370 employees. This new facility is part of Bentley’s £2.5 billion (about $3.2 billion) investment program to develop manufacturing and technology.

CEO Andreas Lehe said the opening of the new facility is an important step towards creating a digital and highly functional standard for luxury car manufacturing.
