Apple launched Digital Car Keys in 2022, and currently supports a range of cars from BMW, BYD, Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, Lotus, Mercedes and Ram. A full list of supported cars is available on Apple’s website.

As the name suggests, with the Digital Car Key, you use your iPhone or Apple Watch to unlock, lock or start your car using NFC by simply bringing your phone or watch to the car’s compatible NFC reader.
