Canalys: The global smartphone market grew by 5%

Analysys’ preliminary report for Q3 2024 showed sequential year-on-year growth in global smartphone shipments. The main driver of growth has been the smartphone replacement cycle in the face of intense competition between manufacturers.

Xiaomi, Oppo and vivo rounded out the top five, but all eyes were on Apple as the US company achieved its highest volume in the third quarter. There was strong demand for the iPhone 15 and the new devices expected to receive Apple Intelligence during this month. However, the main reason for the rise in Apple shipments was the market shift towards premium devices.

Canalys notes that the smartphone market is improving, but some vendors still face global challenges in demand generation and regulatory hurdles, particularly in the European Union.
