Oura Ring 4 announced: sleeker design, updated sensors and redesigned app

The Finnish company Oura has released its new Oura Ring 4 smart ring, which offers a number of improvements over the previous version, released three years ago.
Oura Ring 4 has an all-titanium body, forgoing the epoxy interior like the previous model. The ring is 2.88mm thick and weighs between 3.3 and 5.2 grams, depending on size. It’s also water-resistant to 100 meters.
The ring is also waterproof to 100 meters.
The sensors inside are much thinner, just 0.3mm compared to 1.3mm on the Ring Gen 3. Despite the sensor shrinkage, the manufacturer promises their more accurate performance.
And despite the smaller sensor, they’re more accurate.

Oura claims a 120% improvement in blood oxygen level (SpO2) measurements and a 30% improvement in accuracy during sleep compared to Ring Gen 3. The new Ring also gets a more accurate heart rate sensor with smaller gaps in heart rate measurements during the day and night, and a better breath distribution index (BDI).
Oura also solved a major problem with smart rings by implementing an update algorithm that accesses more signaling pathways from your finger.
Oura Ring 4 offers updated automatic activity detection with support for more than 40 modes and heart rate monitoring broken down by heart rate zones. There’s also, of course, sleep and stress tracking.

The Ring 4’s battery life is up to 8 days on a single charge, and it charges with the new charging dock.
The Oura Ring 4 is available in Silver, Black, Brushed Silver, Stealth, Gold, and Rose Gold colors and in sizes 4-15. Prices start at $349.
