Qualcomm unveiled the world’s first Wi-Fi 7 platform for cars

Qualcomm Technologies has unveiled a unique development — the world’s first Snapdragon Auto Connectivity QCA6797AQ platform. This advanced technology provides complete coverage of all major wireless connections, including the latest Wi-Fi 7 standard.
The Snapdragon Auto Connectivity QCA6797AQ is the world’s first Snapdragon Auto Connectivity platform.
The Snapdragon Auto Connectivity QCA6797AQ platform supports all navigation systems, including satellite systems, as well as Wi-Fi 7/6/5/4, 5G/4G cellular networks and the latest versions of Bluetooth. Moreover, it maximizes connectivity between the smart car and its surroundings with C-V2X connectivity. According to Qualcomm engineers, the latest platform provides more reliable connectivity through the use of High Band Simultaneous Multi-Link Radio, which solves the problem of dropped connections due to external interference. In addition, the new standard offers the ability to transmit data with increased bandwidth in the 6 GHz band (320 MHz channel), achieving peak speeds of up to 5.8 Gbps.

Simply put, the new platform provides a much faster, more reliable and stable connection between autos and the outside world. For example, there will be faster loading of maps, more accurate positioning, faster downloading of firmware or various updates – in other words, everything we’re used to seeing in our smartphones is finally coming to cars.
