Renault 5 E-Tech – budget compact electric car

French automaker Renault has unveiled the Renault 5 E-Tech, which will be shown on February 26, 2024 at the Geneva Motor Show. This compact hatchback, inspired by the atmosphere of the 70s and based on the 2021 concept model, has largely retained its uniqueness.

The Renault 5 E-Tech and the 2021 concept model have similar shapes and proportions, although some changes have been made. Additional air intakes have been added to the front bumper, while the headlights and wheel arches have been made more concise. Mirror sizes have been increased and the front door handles have become traditional while the rear ones are hidden. The red trim above the doors remains intact.
The Renault 5 E-Tech will be smaller than traditional B-Class models like the Renault Clio. The compact car will be built on the CMF-BEV platform with an electric motor on the front axle, elements of which are 70% unified with CMF-B, the base platform for other compact Renault and Dacia models. This decision will help to make the model more budget-friendly.
So far, not much is known about the technical details. All we know is that the electric car will be available in two versions with different battery capacities, with the most advanced model with a 52 kWh battery pack able to travel up to 400 kilometers without recharging.
