What’s wrong with the Galaxy S25 Edge? First review before the launch

We’ve already held the device in our hands – and it’s really impressive. But there are nuances.
Ultra-thin body – just 5.8mm
The Galaxy S25 Edge has been codenamed Paradigm Slim -and justifiably so. The case is only 5.8mm thick and weighs in at 163 grams. That makes it the thinnest «non-flagship» Android smartphone from Samsung and practically the lightest in the series (the difference with the base S25 is just 1 gram).

This result was achieved by using titanium frame, like the Galaxy S25 Ultra, instead of the aluminum used in the lower models of the lineup.
Big screen and durable glass
The Galaxy S25 Edge features 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120Hz and brightness up to 2600 nits. The front panel is protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, while the back panel is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Below the screen is the familiar ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
Flagship-like design
Inside is the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (3nm process), 12GB of RAM and 256 or 512GB of storage. Performance is on par with flagships. The smartphone runs on Android 15 with the One UI 7 shell, with Samsung promising 7 years of OS and security updates.
All the key Galaxy AI features are also available: Call Assistant, Note Assist, Circle to Search, Web Summary, and more. There’s support for Gemini, which is integrated into the shell.
200MP camera, but no telephoto lens
The main camera is a flagship 200MP sensor like the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It provides excellent detail, high contrast and high-quality shooting at any time of the day. It’s complemented by a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camerawith autofocus.
The telephoto lens is missing from this model – most likely due to size and battery limitations. However the high resolution of the main module allows for digital zoom while maintaining high quality.
Battery – compromise for thinness
The main compromise of the Galaxy S25 Edge is the battery. Its capacity is 3900 mAh, which is even less than the base S25 (4000 mAh). Considering the large screen and performance chip, the battery life is questionable. However, Samsung says the smartphone uses intelligent power management, optimizing power consumption.
It supports wired charging at 25W and wireless charging at 15W.
Security and Wireless Interfaces
As befits a flagship, the S25 Edge gets IP68 dust and water protection. The smartphone features Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, USB Type-C and eSIM support. Everything is on par with Samsung’s top-of-the-line models.
Price and Availability
Pre-order for the Galaxy S25 Edge will start May 13, and it will go on retail sale May 30, 2025. The smartphone will be available in three colors:

- Titanium Icy Blue
- Titanium Jet Black
- €1249 for the 256GB version
- €1369 for the 512GB version
First Impression: an engineering marvel
Galaxy S25 Edge is a smartphone that looks like the Galaxy S25+, but feels completely different. When you pick it up, you immediately realize how far Samsung engineers have come in creating ultra-thin but powerful devices. It’s truly a premium solution for those who value form factor as much as performance.
We expect that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 might get similar designs – and that’s great news for all fans of thin and light devices.
