Vivo X Fold 5 will be unveiled on June 25
By ForGeeks Vivo has announced on Chinese social media that a major unveiling will take place on June 25 at 7:00 p.m. local time. The main novelty will be a next-generation foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold 5, as well as the Vivo TWS Air3 Pro wireless headphones.
The announcement’s tagline – “lighter and stronger” – points to significant advances in device design and performance. The X Fold 5 is expected to be the lightest foldable smartphone in the book format, weighing less than 209 grams. It is expected to be available in three colors: pine green, white and titanium. The camera will be housed in a round module with Zeiss branding. The device looks similar to the previous model, but has a new physical button on the left edge, replacing the silent mode switch.
The smartphone is expected to get an 8.03-inch internal display and a 6.53-inch external display. Both screens will be based on LTPO matrices with PWM at high frequency and support for full scale dimming. The device will have IPX9 water protection and IPX5 dust protection.
Vivo X Fold 5 is rumored to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and will get a 6,000mAh battery with support for fast charging: 90W on wired and 30W wireless. The main camera will be a triple camera: a 50MP Sony IMX921 main sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide module and an IMX882 telephoto lens with 3x zoom. And the device will be less than 5mm thick on one side when folded.
One of the most unexpected features will be full compatibility with Apple’s ecosystem. The smartphone supports iCloud sign-in, AirPods with animations and built-in settings, and health data syncing with Apple Watch via the Vivo Health app.
