The sale of these models of Chinese trucks has been banned in Russia

Rosstandart reports that the sale of nine truck models from the Dongfeng, Foton, FAW and Sitrak brands has been officially suspended due to identified safety hazards: problems with brakes, noise and control identification.
Which models fell under the ban
- Dongfeng DFH 4180 and DFH 5200B
- Foton BJ4189H5 and M4L chassis;
- FAW CA4250CA4180JH6-B 8×4
- Sitrak ZZZHS
The ban applies to models certified both in Russia and in other EAEU countries.
Reasons for Rosstandart’s intervention
In the framework of unscheduled post facto inspections, it was found that the listed trucks do not meet the requirements of technical regulations TR CU 018/2011:
- Insufficient efficiency of the braking system;
- Excessive noise level;
- Problems with control labeling;
- The absence of the system of emergency call of operational services;
Rosstandart said that these violations can pose a serious threat to the life and health of drivers and other road users.
Instead of corrections – recall and ban on release
The inspections resulted in the suspension of vehicle and chassis type approval certificates for the aforementioned models. Manufacturers are ordered to conduct a recall campaign and correct the violations in both already sold and unsold vehicles. Dealers are instructed to notify owners and conduct free remediation of the defects.
Figures and context
One source previously noted that there are more than 15,000 Shacman SX3258 trucks in Russia (the Shacman brand is similar to FAW/Dongfeng/Sitrak), of which about 2,170 are already in operation. Problems have been identified in noise, collision protection and safety level.
Experts note that such measures could hit importers who have been selling trucks at undervalued prices, and passengers in the passenger car market have already warned of increased competition from Chinese cars
