Samsung has temporarily halted the distribution of the One UI 8 based Android 16 for the Galaxy S22 series of smartphones. Just a few days after the firmware was launched, users in Europe and India noticed that the update had disappeared from the company’s servers.

What the update brings

One UI 8 started arriving to owners of the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra last week. The update included a redesigned interface, improved multitasking, updated Camera and Reminders apps, smoother notifications and a fresh security suite. It was also supposed to be the last major update to Android for 2022 flagships.

But X users (formerly Twitter) reported that the firmware was suddenly missing. According to blogger@Koram_Akhilesh, Samsung likely recalled it due to stability issues discovered. Those who have managed to install the update have noted accelerated battery drain, though no major glitches have been observed.

What users should do

If you’ve already updated, there’s no need to panic – your device will continue to work as normal, except that battery life may be a little slower. For those who haven’t installed One UI 8 yet, you’ll want to wait until the patched version is released.

Samsung hasn’t officially commented yet, but based on past cases, the company is quick to release patched builds. Users can expect improved stability and performance once the update resumes.
