Minisforum showed MS-A1 mini-PC with CPU upgrade function

Minisforum has introduced the MS-A1 compact computer. Its main feature is the ability to replace the processor via a motherboard with a standard AM5 socket. The company has revealed all the features of the new product and its retail price.

Minisforum MS-A1 supports AMD 7000, 8000 and 9000 series chips up to the “loaded” Ryzen 9 7900X and 7950X models. However, when using the latter, the TDP limit will be 100W, so they will not be able to achieve full rated performance. A compact cooler with two fans responsible for cooling the hardware.

The motherboard features two slots for DDR5-5200 RAM modules (up to 96GB), three M.2 slots (one pair of PCIe 4.0 x4 and one PCIe 3.0 x4), and one U.2 slot. In addition, an additional M.2 slot can be installed via the expansion slot. The maximum total storage capacity is up to 27 TB. Interface connectors include five USB Type-A, one OcuLink for an external graphics card, one Ethernet (2.5Gbps) pair, and one HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.0, and USB 4 Type C ports.

The base version of the new product costs $259 (22,740 rubles), while the configuration with a Ryzen 7 8700G processor with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage will cost $729 (63,990 rubles).
