Intel to raise prices on Raptor Lake processors

According to information received from insiders among Intel’s component suppliers, the company is considering an increase in the cost of Raptor Lake processors by about 10%. Experts believe that such a move may be dictated by insufficient demand for the latest models.

Insiders admit that the price increase for Raptor Lake processors could range from 10% to 20%, depending on the specific region. The reason for this is that the chips in this series still show a decent level of performance that meets the needs of most users. This reduces the incentive to upgrade to newer computers that use the more modern Lunar Lake processors, which offer comparable features but cost more.

The Raptor Lake chip family has a price advantage of about $200 (16,270 rubles) over the Lunar Lake models, forcing major computer makers such as Lenovo, HP and Acer to continue buying previous versions of CPUs to build their branded PCs, for which demand remains consistently high. In addition, the 15-25% increase in the price of DRAM memory, including DDR4 and DDR5, as well as SSD NAND SSDs has led to an overall increase in the cost of PCs. This factor is also incentivizing PC makers to use older chips to lower the final cost of the finished device.

With all of this in mind, Intel is analyzing the possibility of raising prices on the remaining Raptor Lake processors in stock, according to sources.
