Visually, the Magic V5 looks very similar to its predecessor, which can’t be called a drawback. However, a closer look reveals a flatter bezel, presumably for ease of handling.
Although the Magic V3 was already an impressive device, the Magic V5 offers improvements on almost all fronts. It’s thinner, lighter, and has gotten better protection from the outside world. When folded, the Magic V5 is only 8.8mm thick. When unfolded, the thickness is 4.1mm or 4.2mm depending on the color. Weight is 217g or 222g (Ivory White is the thinnest and lightest option; Black, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown are slightly heavier).
While the Magic V3 had an IPX8 rating, the Magic V5 has IP58 and IP59, which means improved water protection and added dust protection.

The biggest update is the battery, which has seen a 12% increase in capacity. Instead of the previous 5,150 mAh, it now uses a 6,100 mAh cell with silicon-carbon technology (in China) or 5,820 mAh (outside China). 66W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging are supported.
The screens are pretty much unchanged in terms of specs. The outer display is 6.43 inches, 2376×1060 pixel resolution, 120Hz, LTPO OLED, 5,000 nits peak brightness. The inner one is 7.95 inches, 2352×2172 pixels resolution, 120 Hz, LTPO OLED with the same brightness. The outer screen is protected by Honor Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield glass, while the inner screen is protected by Super Armored Inner Screen.
The cameras have also gotten an upgrade. The main one is 50 MP f/1.6, a new ultra-wide 50 MP f/2.0 (instead of the previous 40 MP), and a new 70mm f/2.5 telephoto lens with a 64 MP sensor (1/2.0 inch, improved from 1/2.51 inch).
Honor Magic V5 is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and comes in three configurations: 12/256GB, 16/512GB, and 16GB/1TB. The colors are Ivory White, Black, Dawn Gold and Reddish Brown. Pricing starts at $1,255.
