Honor Magic V5 has set a world record for durability among foldable smartphones

The Honor Magic V5 flagship foldable smartphone has turned out to be not only thin and premium, but also record-breakingly durable. The company announced that the device has entered the Guinness Book of World Records, proving the combination of sleek design and high durability.

Before its global launch, Honor Magic V5 was officially recognized as a record holder for the achievement of “The heaviest weight lifted by a suspended foldable smartphone.” The smartphone was able to sustain a suspended weight of 104 kilograms. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 was previously recognized for its durability in the JerryRigEverything test, but Honor was able to break new ground for the foldable device segment.

The record was set on August 1, 2025 in Dubai. The company attributes the achievement to the Honor Super Steel Hinge, which is claimed to withstand up to 500,000 folding cycles and can hold more than 100 kilograms of weight (under controlled conditions).

What’s particularly impressive is that the Honor Magic V5 is only 8.8mm thick when folded. This slim and sleek design can already be appreciated in unboxing reviews and comparisons with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, where both devices are positioned as next-generation premium foldable smartphones.
