Google is expanding the capabilities of Gemini AI

Google continues to integrate Gemini AI into its services. The AI assistant will now appear in the text selection menu on Android, allowing users to instantly request additional information.
How will the new feature work?
The feature was discovered while analyzing the APK file of Google app 16.8.31.sa.arm64 beta (according to Android Authority). While it’s not yet live, the appearance of the code indicates an imminent release.
Algorithm of action:
- Select text in any application (browser, notes, etc.).
- Open the menu (three dots in the pop-up window).
- Select «Ask Gemini»
- Get information about this text from Gemini AI.
The feature will work in browsers (including Firefox) and in apps that use Android’s standard selection menu. However, apps with custom selection tools may not have support.

Analogue to «Circle to Search» but for text
Google has already introduced «Circle to Search», where users can select objects on the screen to get explanations from AI. Recently, at MWC 2025, the company announced similar features for analyzing screen content
The new option in text selection makes Gemini AI even more accessible, especially for those who don’t have support for Circle to Search
When will the update be released?
At the moment «Ask Gemini» is not yet available publicly. There’s no official release date, but Google is already testing the feature. It’s expected to appear in a future Google app or Android UI update
