Flagships with Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and Dimensity 9500 chips are getting more expensive – 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage are on the horizon

The next generation of top-end smartphones may not only become more powerful, but also noticeably more expensive. According to a fresh leak from reputable insider Digital Chat Station, manufacturers are preparing devices with Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and Dimensity 9500 chips that could get up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of onboard storage.
The race for AI performance – and rising hardware demands
According to DCS, the new chipsets will deliver AI performance 2X better than previous models. For example, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is allegedly capable of processing up to 100 TOPS (trillion operations per second) – a level that only specialized gas pedals in laptops and servers could reach until recently.
To unlock the potential of such chips, manufacturers are starting to look again at configurations with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, according to the insider, despite the fact that such options all but disappeared from the market last year due to rising component prices.

Will prices go up again?
While Digital Chat Station doesn’t directly talk about price increases, logic suggests otherwise: increased RAM and internal memory will inevitably lead to higher production costs. And that means the flagship smartphones of 2025 could go up in price – especially the top-of-the-line versions.
Geekbench is already making it clear what the new flagships are capable of
According to leaks, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 scores over 4,000 points in the Geekbench 6 single-threaded test and over 11,000 in the multi-threaded test. The Dimensity 9500 isn’t far behind either, scoring around 3,900 in single and over 11,000 in multi. That puts both chips on par with Apple’s M-series processors and even some notebook CPUs.
So far, both chips are on par with Apple’s M-series processors and even some notebook CPUs.
Total: 2025 flagships will truly be PCs in your pocket
If the information is confirmed, we’ll see the return of ultimatum configurations that will provide not just multitasking, but full-fledged AI applications right on the device. True, you’ll have to pay more for such a mobile “supercomputer.”
