Apple will release a calculator for iPad after 14 years

The iPadOS operating system can’t be accused of lacking functionality, but it’s still missing one of its basic apps. That’s the standard calculator, which Apple has ignored for 14 years. That should change for the better for iPad owners this year, however.

And that’s not the case.

According to Apple Insider, the useful utility will get a few new features with the release of iOS 18. In particular, the Calculator will be able to create notes and convert currency. In addition, it will finally appear as part of iPadOS 18, and on macOS should change the design of the application: the buttons may become round, and when you change the size of the window, their shape will change to oval. The new version of the app will also add a history feed of calculations in all modes of operation (basic, programmable, or scientific).

Apple to release iPad calculator after 14 years ()

It is known that the author of the original iPhone version of “Calculator” was Steve Jobs himself. He created the Macintosh app in 1981 using a specially designed builder. However, later, during pre-release testing of the iPad version, he decided to remove the program from the firmware of the company’s tablet, as it was just a stretched version for the iPhone. In the following years, Apple didn’t even remember this unpleasant “loss.”
