Apple may release a foldable iPad sooner than expected

While we continue to wait for the release of the «traditional» next-generation Apple iPad that was talked about just a few days ago this week, a new report from Digitimes looks to the future. We’re talking about a completely different type of iPad — a foldable one.
An entirely different type of iPad.
Contrary to Ming-Chi Kuo’s prediction last year, it looks like the folding iPad could go into production «as early as late 2024». Before you rejoice, you should know that even this rather optimistic report, based on «sources in the supply chain», warns that the official announcement of this long-awaited device may not take place until «early 2025». If that’s the case, the foldable iPad’s commercial debut would take place in 2025.
And if that’s the case, the foldable iPad would make its commercial debut in 2025.

There are also rumors of «intense» behind-the-scenes work by Apple on its first foldable device. Supposedly, this work is mainly aimed at creating a barely noticeable crease in the display that should overshadow the Galaxy Z Fold 5’s design. Unfortunately, there’s very little chance that the «iPad Fold» will be officially unveiled in late 2024 and released in early 2025 without a crease, as panel makers haven’t yet found a comprehensive solution to the problem, and that’s unlikely to change in the next year or so.
And that’s not likely to change in the next year or so.
