Roscosmos reported problems with the Luna-25 automatic station

Roskosmos reports that the Luna-25 automatic station has encountered problems during its mission. At 14.10 Moscow time, the station gave an impulse to move to the orbit necessary for landing on the Moon, but due to an abnormal situation, the maneuver was not performed with the specified characteristics. Now the specialists of the control group are trying to find out the reasons for what happened and take the necessary measures.

At the moment, specialists are working to find out the reasons for the incident. Details are not yet known, but it is known that at 09:20 Moscow time, the Luna-25 propulsion system performed an orbit correction within 40 seconds, and everything went smoothly. According to Roscosmos, the station’s onboard systems worked without failures, and communications were stable.

The Luna-25 autonomous station was launched in 2023 and was supposed to be the first Russian station to land on the surface of the Moon.
