SpaceX will build a giant launch complex for Starship mass launches

SpaceX plans to build a dedicated launch facility for its Starship rockets at the John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida, according to Bloomberg.

SpaceX estimates that the new launch complex will allow for up to 44 Starship launches per year. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has already begun preparing the project’s environmental impact statement, which is required for construction approval.

Starship is designed by Ilon Musk as a versatile transportation system for manned missions to Earth orbit, satellite launches, and missions to the Moon, Mars, and other planets. The reusable Super Heavy booster and Starship are planned to perform vertical takeoffs and landings.

So far, all three of SpaceX’s attempts to launch a Starship prototype into Earth orbit have failed at various stages. A fourth launch is expected soon.
