An astrophotographer has captured a stunning shot of the Milky Way

Lisbon-based photographer, Miguel Claro, who has become famous for his spectacular images of the starry sky. One of his latest works is an image called “Giant Eye Staring into the Night Sky”, which captures a majestic view of the Milky Way.
The photo was taken in Alqueva, Portugal, and shows a starry sky over a verdant landscape and one of Europe’s largest man-made lakes. The dark sky of the reserve provides a striking contrast to the Milky Way. The final image was created by combining 25 separate frames.

The image shows dozens of emission nebulae and dark dust along the Milky Way, as well as the Andromeda galaxy. The greenish glow of the atmosphere gives the panorama a special charm, emphasizing the importance of choosing a dark location to observe this phenomenon.
“My main goal is to show how majestic we should feel to be part of this big cosmic canvas where all life is beautiful and perfect. I believe in the words of Fyodor Dostoevsky, who claimed that beauty will save the world,” writes Claro.
