X’s new DMs feature, XChat, has started rolling out to beta testers. Some X users who subscribe to the platform have reported that they have gained access to XChat.

XChat is expected to be a more robust version of the existing DMs (private messaging) feature that was implemented on X before the platform was acquired by Ilon Musk.

Some of XChat’s anticipated features include group messaging, end-to-end encryption, a message deletion mode, the ability to mark messages as unread, and file sharing. Messages are also protected by a 4-digit password.
