Xiaomi may ditch Leica and bet on its own camera technology

Xiaomi has announced that it will end its partnership with Leica to develop cameras for its smartphones. The new flagships, including the expected Xiaomi 16 and Redmi K90 Pro lineup, will exclusively use Leica’s own imaging technology.

Xiaomi is following in the footsteps of Huawei, which has also previously abandoned Leica and developed its own XMAGE system. Other major manufacturers are keeping their partnerships intact for now, with Vivo working with Zeiss, Oppo — with Hasselblad, and Honor — with Harcourt.
