Vivo has unveiled the V50 Lite 5G smartphone with a powerful battery and 90-watt charging capabilities

Vivo has unveiled the V50 Lite 5G smartphone, which is a 5G version of the previously announced V50 Lite 4G. The new device gets an updated chipset, improved connectivity and retains a capacious 6,500mAh battery with 90W fast charging.
Performance and connectivity
In place of the Snapdragon 685 in the 4G model, the 5G-enabled version is equipped with the Dimensity 6300 chipset. This offers better performance and improved connectivity. Paired with the processor are 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM, while the onboard storage is 256GB or 512GB (UFS 2.2). There is no microSD card slot.
The Dimensity 6300 gives the smartphone Bluetooth 5.4 support (instead of the 4G version’s 5.0). The Wi-Fi version isn’t specified, but it’s likely to be Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), the same standard as the 4G model.

Display and cameras
The Vivo V50 Lite 5G features a 6.77-inch OLED display with 1080p+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 1,800 nits of peak brightness. An optical fingerprint scanner is integrated into the screen, and a 32-megapixel front-facing camera is located in the center cutout.

The main camera gets a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 (1/2.0″) sensor, and it’s complemented by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module. This is an important improvement over the 4G version, which only had a 2-megapixel secondary sensor next to the main camera. The camera is complemented by an Aura Light ring flash.

Autonomy and protection
One of the main advantages of the device was the 6,500 mAh battery. Vivo claims that the battery will retain at least 80% of its capacity even after 5 years of use. It can last up to 10.5 hours of gaming time on a single charge.
Compared to the Vivo V40 Lite 5G, the new smartphone gets a 1,000mAh larger battery and twice as fast charging at 90W. A full charge takes about 53 minutes, and the battery fills to 50 percent in just 23 minutes.

The smartphone is IP65 certified, which means it’s protected against dust and weak jets of water. Vivo also claims the case can withstand drops thanks to its “quad-corner air cushion” technology.
Additional Features
- The smartphone has stereo speakers, but there is no 3.5mm headphone jack.
- Available in Titanium Gold and Phantom Black (which is more like a deep purple). Fantasy Purple (with feather texture) and Silk Green (with a wavy pattern) should be available at a later date.
