Three new Razr: Motorola’s updated foldable smartphones for 2025

Three new Razr: Motorola’s updated foldable smartphones for 2025

Motorola is focusing on innovation and expanding choice: for 2025, the brand has not just refreshed its Razr foldable smartphone lineup, but relaunched it with three models with different specs, prices and functionality. For the first time, the familiar Razr and Razr Plus are joined by the flagship Razr Ultra, which features an unusual design, powerful hardware and a wooden back panel.

Along with the new devices, the company also showed a significantly updated version of Moto AIMoto AI

Different in class, equally innovative

The new Razr 2025 lineup is Motorola’s attempt to reimagine the foldable smartphone not as an exotic, but as a convenient everyday tool tailored to different needs. Instead of a single model like competitors like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip, the brand offers three tiers, from the more affordable Razr to the flagship Razr Ultra, while keeping the general direction of compactness when folded and a large screen when unfolded.

Motorola’s attempt to rethink the foldable smartphone isn’t an exotic one, but rather one that’s compact when folded and large when unfolded.

Each model gets reinforced titanium hinge designed for significantly more folding, and a battery with increased capacity. In addition, all devices are now protected to IP48 standard, making them one of the few dust-resistant folding phones available.

Designs and screens: from elegant to extravagant

Visually, the devices have gotten even sleeker. The base model retains the 3.6-inch outer screen, while the Razr Plus and Razr Ultra get larger 4-inch pOLED displays up to 165Hz. The main (internal) screens on all models are elongated and tall, which visually makes the smartphone look like a remote or mini tablet when unfolded. The Razr and Razr Plus have 6.9-inch panels, while the Ultra gets a 7-inch AMOLED display that creates a particularly impressive effect when used in the unfolded position.

Razr Ultra also distinguished itself with a special finish: one of the back panel variants is made of wood – a bold design move that makes the model not just a gadget, but a stylish accessory.

Moto AI – the assistant that understands you from the word go

If the hardware of the new Razr is impressive, the software is just as impressive. Moto AI, introduced back in 2024, is now smarter and more deeply integrated. It’s not just a voice assistant – it’s an ecosystem that combines the capabilities of Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity AI and Motorola’s own algorithms.

The Catch Me Up summarizes missed notifications, Next Move prompts actions based on the current context – such as an app or an open website. And Pay Attention and Remember This organize notes, voice recordings, and screenshots so you don’t lose important details. All of this works both at the touch of a button and by voice, and some of the features adapt to user behavior over time.
