Tecno has unveiled the Phantom Ultimate G Fold concept with a triple folding screen

Tecno has officially announced the Phantom Ultimate G Fold concept smartphone, a device with a unique triple-folding mechanism and double internal bend. This approach not only protects the main screen, but also offers new usage scenarios that go beyond the usual form factors.

The Phantom Ultimate G Fold concept smartphone is the ultimate in smartphone design.

Triple Folding with Double Inner Bend

The main feature of the concept is a triple folding display with two internal hinges. This means that when folded, the screen folds inward twice, forming a G-shape. Unlike externally foldable models, where the flexible panel stays on the outside, here it’s securely protected, and when fully unfolded it forms a solid, flat surface with no visible tears – ideal for watching videos and multitasking.

External screen and flexibility in everyday use

The device also features an optional external display that lets you use the smartphone when closed – for calls, notifications, messages and simple tasks. And when unfolded, it turns into a mini tablet or even a laptop, depending on the angle and mode you choose.

Angle locking mechanism

The smartphone supports multi-angle hold mode – the screen can lock at different angles, which is useful for video calling, movie watching, and split-screen mode. This makes the concept not just a demonstration of engineering, but a potentially useful device in real-world scenarios.

Minimal thickness despite complexity

Despite the dual hinges and two screens, the company claims that the Phantom Ultimate G Fold is the thinnest trifolder on the market. This result was achieved by miniaturizing the hinges and using advanced flexible display technology. When folded, the device is comparable in thickness to single-segment foldable smartphones.

Future technology from Tecno

This isn’t the brand’s first experiment with unconventional form factors: Tecno has previously shown prototypes with retractable and unfoldable screens. The Phantom Ultimate G Fold continues this line and shows the company’s serious ambitions in the segment of innovative mobile devices.

The concept will be officially unveiled in mid-July. While the model is not yet destined for mass production, the level of readiness and engineering indicates Tecno’s intention to turn its design into a commercially available product.
