Xiaomi 16 series will get the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for the first time

The next generation of Android flagships is just around the corner, and a fresh leak has revealed the names of some premium devices powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. It looks like the Xiaomi 16 series could be the first to feature Qualcomm’s latest design.

Xiaomi 16 series will get the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for the first time. The new information comes from a well-known insider (via NotebookCheck) who shared the details on the Weibo platform. According to these details, the Xiaomi 16, Xiaomi 16 Pro and Xiaomi 16 Pro Max could be the first smartphones with this flagship Android chipset. That’s not surprising given Xiaomi’s close ties with Qualcomm – in the past, the company’s flagships have been the first to be equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8-series processors.

The renders show that the design of the device will continue the tradition of premium models. A good example is the Xiaomi 15 lineup, which debuted in October 2024 with a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. There have also been rumors of a brand new model – the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max – with a large 6,300 mAh battery, wireless charging and a periscopic telephoto lens.
