Redmi is preparing to launch the Turbo 5 smartphone, which will debut as early as November — two months earlier than its predecessor. This was reported by insider Smart Pikachu on Weibo, revealing the key specifications of the device and possible reasons for the postponed release date.

The smartphone will get a new MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor, positioned as a flagship solution for the mid-range segment. The same chip is rumored to power the Oppo Reno 15 Pro, Honor Power 2, and Realme Neo 8.

Redmi Turbo 5 will feature a flat LTPS OLED display with 1.5K resolution and rounded corners. The device will have a metal frame, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the screen and a simple camera with no protruding elements.

The main feature — a battery with a capacity of more than 9,000 mAh and support for 100W fast charging. In addition, the device will be fully protected against water and dust — IP68 or IP69 certification is expected.

Early launch and positioning

Sources previously claimed that the Turbo 5 would arrive in the first quarter of 2026, but now an insider is talking about a launch as early as November 2025. The smartphone has undergone radio certification in China, which confirms that it’s ready for release.

In comparison, the Redmi Turbo 4 was introduced in January 2025, so the new model is coming out earlier to get the «first-mover effect» in its segment.

A senior version of the Redmi Turbo 5 Pro is also expected, but its release, according to sources, won’t happen until the first half of 2026.

International version: Poco X8 Pro

Like last year when the Redmi Turbo 4 launched globally as the Poco X7 Pro, the new model will likely form the basis for the Poco X8 Pro. The device has already passed EEC certification in Europe, confirming plans for an international release.
