Huawei is preparing an ultra-thin Mate 70 Air: images and specifications revealed

Huawei is working on a new Mate 70 Air smartphone to add to the growing segment of ultra-thin devices. Following the release of the Nubia Air (6.7mm) and the upcoming Moto X70 Air (5.99mm), the Chinese brand will unveil its own model with a focus on lightweight body and minimal thickness.

The new smartphone with model number SUP-AL90 has appeared in the database of China Telecom. According to the description, the Huawei Mate 70 Air features 6.9-inch display with a resolution of Full HD (1920 × 1080 pixels). The smartphone will come in two memory configurations – 12+256GB and 12+512GB, as well as three colors: Golden Black, Feather White and Silver Brocade.

The details about the thickness of the case have not been revealed yet, but the Air series is traditionally positioned as ultra-thin. Judging by the model index, the device probably doesn’t support 5G networks: unlike Huawei’s 5G versions with the suffix “AN00”, the Mate 70 Air’s name uses “ALXX.”




Context: new generations of Mate
Besides the Mate 70 Air, Huawei is gearing up for a major release, the Mate 80 series, which will debut in China as early as November. The lineup will include the Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro+ and Mate 80 RS, as well as the foldable Mate X7, which insiders say could be unveiled at the same time as the main series.
