The information comes from a reputable Digital Chat Station insider. According to him, such screen settings can significantly improve the smoothness of animations and reduce touch lag.

An unexpected approach: 165Hz in the middle segment

It’s noteworthy that testing of this technology is reportedly underway in a line of mid-range smartphones. Normally, such high refresh rates are the prerogative of flagship devices. If the tests are successful, the feature could make its way to the brand’s top-of-the-line models as well.

Redmi enters the race

Digital Chat Station previously reported that Redmi (a division of Xiaomi) is also developing a 165Hz display. This seems to be a direct response to OnePlus’ experiments.

Also, according to an insider, OnePlus is preparing a tablet with a similar 165Hz screen. However, it’s not yet known which model will get this upgrade.
