One UI 8.5 beta 5 launches on Galaxy S25 in India
Samsung has started rolling out the next One UI 8.5 beta (Android 16 QPR2) update for the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra models in India. The firmware carries the codename ZZAN. This is a relatively small update but officially available now – to install, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

The update weighs in at 553.08 MB and, according to the official changelog, contains just one line: “Applied Bixby version update.” No other new features or fixes are mentioned in the public release notes.
Update details
Here’s the full rundown:
- Devices: Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, Galaxy S25 Ultra
- Firmware version: ZZAN
- Download size: 553.08 MB
- Changelog: “Applied Bixby version update.”
- How to get it: Settings > Software update > Download and install
- Release status: fourth beta update in India; will become the fifth global beta once released in other regions
Why is the update so small?
Samsung’s beta builds are usually bulkier, packed with a slew of new features and fixes. The small size and single changelog line suggest the company has reworked or urgently updated Bixby itself – the voice assistant and smart automation hub that many users rely on for smart home controls and app integrations.
These “minor” beta patches usually arrive when waiting for the next major release isn’t an option – for example, if a bug is breaking voice commands, causing memory leaks, or disrupting core functions. If you actively use Bixby, it’s highly recommended to install this update as soon as possible; for others, the changes will likely go unnoticed.
When will One UI 8.5 stable arrive?
The stable One UI 8.5 update is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy S26 series at the Unpacked event on February 25, 2026, and then roll out gradually to all compatible devices. This small beta patch could be part of final preparations: squashing known Bixby issues ahead of the mass rollout.
The pace of release in other regions depends on feedback from testing in India – if developers confirm no regressions, the update will appear in global beta channels and eventually hit the stable branch.
The question remains whether this small update is a first taste of the global beta channel before Unpacked or just a targeted fix for the Indian branch. We should know in the coming weeks – either with new beta builds arriving in other regions or at the February 25 event itself.
