October 2024 security update for Exynos versions of Samsung Galaxy S22: over 40 vulnerabilities fixed

Samsung has started rolling out a new security update for the Galaxy S22 series of smartphones with Exynos processors, which includes the October 2024 patch. The first devices to receive the update are the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra models sold in Europe. The update should soon be available for Snapdragon processor devices sold in other regions of the world as well.

The October 2024 security update includes patches for 42 vulnerabilities, among which 30 are common to all Android devices and 12 affect Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets exclusively. A vulnerability related to Exynos processors has also been fixed, but the Exynos 2200 chip used in the Galaxy S22 is not affected by the issue.

The remaining months of 2024 will exclusively see security updates for Samsung devices, including the Galaxy S22 series. While beta testing of Android 15 and One UI 7.0 will begin in some countries, the official release of these updates has been delayed until 2025. The first device to receive a stable version of One UI 7.0 is expected to be the Galaxy S25 series.
