Nothing Phone (2) launch to be led by former OnePlus executive

According to a recent Inverse report, Carl Pei’s new company Nothing has aggressively recruited former OnePlus employees, and so far 70% of the software development team and 30% of the hardware development team are from there. But while this report isn’t exactly official, Carl Pei himself has brought on board Kyle Kiang, who was the former marketing director of OnePlus.

Kyle Kiang will be vice president of Nothing in North America, leading the launch of the highly anticipated Phone (2). Unlike last year, the new Phone (2) is expected to be a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 flagship phone. Given Kyle’s success with the OnePlus and T-Mobile deal in the past, it’s not surprising that Carl Pei wanted him at his company.
Maybe the company wants to cater to tech enthusiasts, as OnePlus did in the beginning. After all, longtime OnePlus fans largely agree that the company has lost its spirit over the past few years and has opened up space for other companies.
