MWC 2025: Tecno unveiled the Camon 40 series of smartphones – powerful cameras, AI and water protection
By ForGeeks Tecno has announced a new Camon 40 series of camera phones at the MWC 2025 mobile trade show in Barcelona. The lineup includes four models: the Camon 40 Premier 5G, Camon 40 Pro 5G, Camon 40 Pro and the basic Camon 40. The smartphones feature advanced artificial intelligence features, powerful cameras with FlashSnap snapshot mode, and water and dust resistance up to IP69.
Cameras: 50MP, FlashSnap and Sony’s top sensors
Tecno’s main focus has been on mobile photography capabilities. The Camon 40 Premier 5G features a system of four 50-megapixel cameras, including Sony’s light-sensitive LYT-701 sensor, a periscopic telephoto lens and an ultra-wide-angle lens. The proprietary FlashSnap mode captures sharp images of moving subjects thanks to a fast shutter (up to 1/12000th of a second) and machine learning algorithms.
The Camon 40 Pro 5G scored 138 points in the DXOMark rankings and took the top spot among smartphones under $600. Its arsenal includes a 50MP main camera with Sony LYT-700C sensor, FlashSnap mode, and advanced AI capabilities. Tecno AI
The entire Camon 40 series is equipped with Tecno AI’s proprietary suite of artificial intelligence tools. Key features include:
- The Ella voice assistant with Russian language support, capable of following commands, searching for information and even solving math problems.
- AI Editor in the Notepad app to automatically write, paraphrase and edit text.
- Photo tools: AI eraser to remove unwanted objects, AI frame expander and group shot enhancement feature.
- Search Circle – quickly search for information on a photo fragment using Google technologies.
- Phone Assistant with noise cancellation, parallel translation and call transcription features.
Rugged case and water resistant
Tecno Camon 40 Premier 5G, Camon 40 Pro 5G and Camon 40 Pro meet IP68/IP69 protection standards, which means they are fully waterproof and resistant to hot water jets. The base model Camon 40 is IP66 rated, which is enough to withstand dust and heavy splashes.
All but the base model feature curved AMOLED displays with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i glass protection. The smartphones have also received 5-star SGS certification for drop resistance up to 1.5 meters.
