Motorola launches budget Moto G17 and Moto G17 Power with up to 64-hour battery life

Motorola has unveiled two new affordable smartphones for the European market – the Moto G17 and Moto G17 Power – focusing on long battery life and a budget-friendly starting price of €199.

Shared specs for both models

Both new Moto G17 phones sport identical 6.72-inch LCD displays with a 2400 × 1080 resolution, powered by the MediaTek Helio G81 Extreme chipset and 8GB of RAM. They run on Android 15 and share the same physical dimensions, measuring 165.67mm tall and 75.98mm wide.

They carry an IP64 rating, making them resistant to dust and splashes, and feature Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The rear camera setup centers on a 50MP Sony Lytia 600 sensor paired with a 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens featuring an f/2.2 aperture. On the front, a significant upgrade brings a 32MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture, a big step up from the 8MP shooters in previous Moto G models.

For audio, stereo speakers support Dolby Atmos. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port, and a microSD slot for expandable storage. The fingerprint scanner is placed on the side of the device. Both phones support 4G LTE but do not include 5G capability.

What sets Moto G17 Power apart

The Moto G17 Power ups the ante with a larger 6000mAh battery compared to 5200mAh in the standard Moto G17. Fast charging also differs: the Power model supports 30W TurboPower charging, while the base version tops out at 18W.

Storage is bumped up to 256GB on the Power variant, doubling the 128GB found in the regular model. This also contributes to a slightly thicker build at 8.8mm versus 8.17mm. The base Moto G17 offers an exclusive Pantone Bordeaux color option, which isn’t available on the Power edition.

Motorola hasn’t shared exact weights for either model, which might hint at being on the heavier side for this class. Still, the company quotes solid battery endurance figures: 55.8 hours for the Moto G17 and 64.3 hours for the G17 Power. While these numbers depend on specific usage scenarios, they surpass most rivals priced under €250.

Pricing and availability

The Moto G17 is priced at €199 in Europe, with the Moto G17 Power tagging along at €229. Both devices are already available across European markets, including France and Italy, but have no plans for a U.S. launch.

Though both models use the same MediaTek Helio G81 Extreme chip found in their predecessors, the Moto G15 and G15 Power, they bring improved camera hardware. The 50MP Sony Lytia 600 sensor marks a first for Moto G phones in this segment, promising sharper detail and richer colors.

That said, the lack of a meaningful processor upgrade might give current Moto G15 owners pause before upgrading. Nevertheless, Motorola keeps prices competitive by trimming some specs to hit its targets for 2026.
