This is a significant increase in just one year, especially for the base iPhone models. And in the case of the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, the gains are even more impressive: the iPhone 16 Pro Max beat the iPhone 15 Pro Max by more than four hours, and the smaller iPhone 16 Pro improved on the iPhone 15 Pro by three and a half hours.

And the iPhone 16 Pro Max is the best iPhone in the world.

Google Pixel stays behind

Google’s smartphones, meanwhile, had weaker results. The regular Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro each clocked in at around 13 and a half hours, while the Pixel 9 Pro XL clocked in at 14 hours and 37 minutes.

Real-world usage

It’s important to note that all metrics were obtained under real-world conditions, such as surfing the internet over 5G. However, in normal use, users may not notice such a significant improvement as the brightness of all smartphones was set to 150 nits for consistency in testing, whereas the iPhone 16 lineup can reach brightness of up to 2,000 nits.
