Honor has unveiled Magic V2

Honor has announced its third-generation foldable phone — the Magic V2. It’s a design marvel at just 9.9mm thick when folded (4.7mm when unfolded) and weighs 231 grams. By comparison, the thinnest foldable device up to this point was the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, which is 11.2mm thick when folded and weighs 262 grams.

Another design element of the Magic V2 is the gearless hinge mechanism, which utilizes Honor’s 3D printed titanium alloy cover. The folding mechanism also utilizes special short screws in the hinge component. There’s no official information about the case’s ingress protection, but the company has confirmed that the Magic V2 has P2i coating on all internal components to protect it from accidental water splashes.

Magic V2 features a 7.92-inch LTPO OLED main screen with 2156×2344 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The panel is HDR 10+ compliant and offers up to 1600 nits of brightness in auto mode. Honor has also added high-frequency PWM backlighting at 3,840Hz for flicker-free animation. The main display also features a 16MP front-facing camera housed in a notch with a hole and supports stylus input.

The screen on the cover measures 6.43 inches. It’s a 10-bit OLED panel with a resolution of 2376x1060x and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It features the same high-frequency PWM backlighting as the main display and has a peak brightness of up to 2,500 nits in auto mode. Magic V2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with an overclocked 3.36GHz Cortex-X3 simple core. The device is available with 12GB of RAM and 256/512GB of storage, while the Magic V2 Ultrame is equipped with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

Android 13-based MagicOS 7.2 is responsible for the software part. The Magic V2 is equipped with a 5,000mAh silicon-carbon fiber battery and 66W wired charging.
Magic V2 is available in black, black (Silk Black), purple (Silk Purple), and gold colors.
