Honor has unveiled Magic 8 Pro Air, an ultra-thin flagship with Dimensity 9500 and 5500 mAh battery

Honor has officially unveiled the Magic 8 Pro Air smartphone in China, which is positioned as a slim flagship based on the top-end MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip. The device is just 6.1mm thick, and the starting price in the Chinese market starts at around $645.
After a few days of teasers, the company has revealed all the details of the Magic 8 Pro Air. The novelty is aimed at competing with the iPhone Air and Galaxy S25 Edge, with Honor’s offering looking noticeably stronger than Samsung’s slim flagship in terms of specs. The smartphone is powered by the current flagship Dimensity 9500 processor, which is complemented by configurations with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of onboard storage.

The main focus is on design. Honor claims a body thickness of 6.1mm and a weight of just 155 grams, though it’s not yet specified whether that takes into account the protrusion of the camera unit. On the front, there is a flagship display with ultra-thin bezels — their thickness, according to the company, is 1.08 mm. The screen supports peak brightness of up to 6,000 nits, features a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and has multiple levels of protection.
Cameras are also among the Magic 8 Pro Air’s strengths. The main module includes a 50-megapixel camera with a 1/1.3-inch sensor and f/1.6 aperture, and it’s complemented by a 64-megapixel telephoto lens with 3.2x optical zoom and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. For selfies, there’s a 50MP front-facing camera.
Despite its thin and light body, the smartphone gets a 5,500 mAh battery. In comparison, the iPhone Air, with a minimum thickness of 5.6 mm, has a 3,124 mAh battery, which, according to user reviews, doesn’t always provide a full day’s worth of performance.
Other features of the Magic 8 Pro Air include — IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance, a 120Hz refresh rate display with PWM dimming at 4,320Hz, support for 50W wireless charging and 80W fast wired charging. In China, the base version of the smartphone is priced at 4,499 yuan, which works out to about $645, while the top-end configuration costs 5,499 yuan, or about $789. A global release date for the Honor Magic 8 Pro Air has not yet been officially announced.
