The company called the technology Flex In & Out. The manufacturer specifies that smartphones with such displays won’t need the additional second screen that the current Galaxy Z Flip has, for example. The company’s future flip phones will be able to be worn flip-to-flip.

The two screen pieces are of different lengths so that one of the halves doesn’t overlap the main camera unit when folded. The main disadvantage of this solution —s asymmetrical crease at the junction.

To extend the life of smartphones with Flex In & Out screens, Samsung has made the panels more resistant to shock and temperature fluctuations. The display can operate in temperature ranges from -20°C to +60°C, and can handle a direct hit from a basketball and sand.
