Apple prepares iPhone Fold with imperceptible bending and increased battery life

Apple is finally getting closer to releasing a foldable iPhone: mass production of the device, as well as a foldable MacBook, should begin by the end of 2025. According to analysts, both gadgets could hit the market in late 2026 or early 2027. The new iPhone Fold will be made in a book format – similar to Samsung Galaxy Z Fold.
What the iPhone Fold will be different from the competition
The main problem with foldable smartphones is a noticeable crease in the screen at the point of folding. Apple plans to address this issue with liquid-metal hinge, which will make the case stronger and significantly reduce the visibility of the display crease. This was reported by prominent analyst Min-Chi Kuo, noting that the company has been looking for a way to address this flaw for a long time.
The liquid-metal hinge is created by injection molding and has previously been used by Apple for small components such as the SIM card ejection clip. The technology will now become a key part of the folding mechanism. The screen will be flatter when unfolded, and the hinge itself will be more durable than the competition.
Apple’s new technology will be a key part of the folding mechanism.
Another feature of the iPhone Fold is increased energy efficiency. According to leaks from insider Yeux1122, Apple has developed a new display controller (Display Driver IC) that will reduce power consumption, lower heat, and allow for a thinner matrix. All of which will extend the device’s battery life.
Characteristics and possible price of the iPhone Fold
The foldable iPhone is expected to get:
- 7.8-inch internal display
- 5.5-inch external display
- iOS out of the box
Together, Apple is developing a folding MacBook (more specifically, a MacBook with a folding screen, of course) with an 18.8-inch display that will run macOS.
But the big question is price. While the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 costs from $1,900, the iPhone Fold is expected to be from $2,000 to $2,500, according to analysts. That could be its biggest drawback, especially if competitors offer similar technology at a more affordable price point.
Apple has been stalling on releasing a foldable iPhone for a long time to create a truly competitive device. If the leaks are confirmed, the iPhone Fold will be the longest-lasting foldable smartphone with better battery life. But will that be enough to justify its cost?”
