Yandex will relaunch the “Internetometer” service

“Yandex” presented an updated version of the “Internetometer” service – a tool for measuring the quality of Internet connection. The service has new measurement technology, a redesigned interface, and support for a dark theme. It can be used for free from computers and mobile devices. This happened after the blocking of Speedtest by Ookla by Roskomnadzor in July 2025.

New technology based on Yandex CDN servers

The key change in the work of Internetometer is the transition to measurements using a distributed network of Yandex CDN-servers. These servers are located on communication nodes across the country and are used for caching data – for example, video content from Kinopoisk. Now they are also involved in connection quality measurements.

When running a test, Internetometer accesses not just one, but several nearby CDN servers. This approach allows you to more accurately determine the parameters of the connection at the “last mile” – the section between the user’s device and the ISP or service provider in the region.

Internetometer’s test runs on not just one, but several nearby CDN servers.

Detailed Link Measurement and Evaluation

The service measures download and upload speeds, ping (delay time in milliseconds), and also evaluates the overall quality of the connection on a five-point scale. The interface gives you the results in an easy-to-understand way, such as “enough to watch 1080p video.”

In addition, Internetometer displays technical information about your connection – IP address, browser version, and screen resolution. This information can be useful, particularly when contacting technical support.

Internetometer also displays technical information about your connection, such as IP address, browser version, and screen resolution.

Future updates: app and cabinet for providers

In the near future, the service will get a mobile app, a statistics function and a personal cabinet for service providers. Providers will be able to use it to analyze internet quality in their coverage area based on real user measurements.

The new “Internetometer” is available at ya.ru/internet. The Yandex Infrastructure team is responsible for the development, creating the technological base for the company’s key services – from Search to Alice and Market.
