WhatsApp has stopped working on millions of smartphones

From October 24, 2023 on, Meta* Corporation (recognized in Russia as extremist and banned) will stop supporting outdated Android versions for popular messenger WhatsApp.
WhatsApp indicates that today’s discontinuation of support will only affect Android devices up to version 5.0, simply put, all versions of Android 4, including 4.4 KitKat, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Until today, WhatsApp supported devices running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (2012 OS version) and newer.
«Starting October 24, 2023, only Android OS version 5.0 and higher»— WhatsApp support will be supported.

As for the iPhone, the support information on WhatsApp’s website hasn’t changed – it requires iOS 12 or newer.
