In Moscow on May 7, cab prices rose and there may be disruptions in payments due to preparations for the parade

With the rehearsals of the Victory Parade in Moscow, the rhythm of life has changed dramatically: cab prices have jumped, there are failures in the work of services and possible difficulties with payments. Citizens are advised to prepare in advance for temporary restrictions.

Partial traffic restrictions are in effect in the capital from May 7 to May 9. The Department of Transport of Moscow reported about temporary bans on cabs, carsharing, electric scooters and bicycles in a number of districts of the city. Also the work of public transportation near Red Square and Tverskaya Street is limited. In this connection “Mosgortrans” advised passengers to refill “Troika” cards in advance before the long weekend to avoid queues and failures in the work of terminals.

Taxi becomes more expensive, fares are unavailable

Because of a shortage of cars and disruptions in mobile communication in Moscow, the prices for trips have noticeably increased. According to RIA Novosti, the coefficient of increased demand in the service “Yandex Go” has reached 1.6 – that is, a trip can cost almost one and a half times more expensive than usual. Some fares have become unavailable due to the lack of available drivers. The press service of Yandex explained that problems with the Internet and mobile communication prevent drivers from going to the line, and passengers from placing orders.

The company recommended temporarily switching to public transportation or waiting for the situation to stabilize.

Transfers and payments via SBP may be disrupted

Limited internet access could affect financial transactions. The National Payment Card System, the operator of SBP, has warned that from May 7 through May 9, there may be disruptions in transfers between accounts, payments through the Quick Payment System, as well as in the work of terminals in stores and online services.

Financial institutions recommend that you top up your cards in advance and avoid paying through unstable internet channels if possible.
