Samsung unveiled the eco-friendly T7 Resurrected portable SSD

Samsung has announced the new T7 Resurrected portable SSD, an updated version of its popular SSD designed with sustainability in mind. The new drive maintains the high speed performance of the previous model while featuring a more sustainable design.

The enclosure is made from 100 percent recycled aluminum, which was sourced from waste materials from Samsung Galaxy devices. The company has done away with painting the body entirely, giving it a natural aluminum hue without the use of chemicals to help reduce its environmental footprint. The new product’s packaging is also made from recycled paper and protected by ASA certification with soy ink.

Thanks to these initiatives, the device won the prestigious CES Innovation Award 2026 in the Sustainability and Energy Saving category.

The specifications remain unchanged, with sequential read speeds of 1050MB/s and 1000MB/s USB 3.2 Gen 2 write speeds. Available in 1TB, 2TB and 4TB capacities, the SSD measures 85 x 57 x 8mm and weighs just 72 grams, making it very convenient for mobile users.

The new device is ruggedized to withstand drops of up to two meters and is shock and vibration resistant. It operates over a temperature range of 0°C to 60°C and withstands extremes of humidity and vibration.

Data security is ensured with AES 256-bit hardware encryption and is managed through Samsung Magician software. The device is certified to a variety of international standards and is guaranteed to work consistently across Windows, macOS and Android operating systems.

The cost will be around $120 for 1TB, $206 for 2TB and $379 for 4TB. Global sales will begin on November 30, 2025.
