Qualcomm has started work on its own RISC processors

Qualcomm has partnered with four other companies to create the Quintauris brand to develop chips based on the RISC-V architecture. The first details of the unusual collaboration and the alleged reasons for its creation have already surfaced online.

Infineon, Nordic Semiconductors, Bosch and NXP Semiconductors have joined Qualcomm as co-founders of the brand. They will work together to create and promote commercial solutions based on the RISC-V architecture. Specific product examples were not disclosed, but it is known that the new chips will target the automotive, mobile and Internet of Things segments.
Whistleblowers have previously reported that Qualcomm has turned its attention to an alternative direction due to changes in ARM core licensing. The company already has experience with the RISC-V architecture, and more vendors are making similar decisions.
A gaming console and laptop with RISC processors are already on the market, and Russian company Yadro is planning to release smartphones with RISC chips.
Similarly, Qualcomm has already introduced a gaming console and a laptop with RISC processors.
