Display shipments for the MacBook Air on the M4 and the new iPhone SE will begin soon

Apple is preparing for a series of new M4 chip-based device announcements next week, but it’s learned that the MacBook Air will not be among them. Still, a new report indicates that the wait for an update to the most popular Mac and the new iPhone SE won’t be long.
Display shipments start three months before launch
Displays analyst Ross Young said in two posts on Platform X (formerly Twitter) that screen shipments for the new MacBook Air at M4 and iPhone SE 4 will begin soon. He noted that for the MacBook Air, shipments should begin this month, indicating that they will start soon. Panel shipments for the iPhone SE 4 are scheduled to begin in November.

Display shipments typically begin about three months before the devices officially launch, which means the new MacBook Air and iPhone SE will be released on time, as expected, in early 2025.

Possible announcements in March 2025
Earlier this March, Apple unveiled the MacBook Air on the M3, and the latest iPhone SE was announced in March 2022. So it’s likely that both the updated MacBook Air on M4 and iPhone SE 4 will be announced in March 2025.

Interestingly, Yang also mentioned the possibility of a MacBook Air with 13.3-inch and 15.3-inch display diagonals. However, he noted this with a caveat, which makes this information less reliable. The current MacBook Air models have 13.6-inch and 15.3-inch screens, and it’s unlikely that Apple would reduce the screen size in the smaller model without a significant redesign.
